Shopping
- Attractive shopping destinations are within easy drive of Ravensthorpe.
Shellharbour is a short
drive from Ravensthorpe boasting the major Shopping Centre of the region,
Stocklands, in the new town centre. The old town centre, on the coast, has a village feel
and features quaint
brik-a-brak shopping and a hospitable hotel overlooking the harbour after
which the area is named.
Kiama
welcomes visitors with The Terrace. Built in 1886 to house local quarrymen, these restored timber terraces
(the last remaining in NSW), now provide a range of craft, gift and other
speciality shops including two restaurants and a cafe.
Berry, the next stop
South, is a small country
town with charm and grace. Famous as "the town of trees" it is
now very popular for weekend visitors looking for antiques or just "a
taste of the country".
A
short
drive further is the quaint surf town of Gerringong offering more
shopping and cafes.

Beaches
-
Ravensthorpe is an easy 10 minute drive from clean unspoilt beaches stretching along 20 km of
coastline from Lake Illawarra to the north and Minnamurra River in the
south. Choose one of the five popular beaches in Shellharbour City to
spend the day with family and friends, join the locals for a surf or
enjoy a spot of fishing from the shore.
Further to the
South in the Kiama area are Bombo Beach, Surf
Beach, Kendalls Beach, Easts Beach, Werri Beach and Seven Mile Beach
offering more privacy for a relaxing walk or time to sit and catch up on
that reading.

Hiking / Bushwalking
- Killalea State
Park - a spectacular tact of coastal land, which has been dedicated as a
public park. Killalea (also known as the Farm) is a favourite spot for
surf board riders. The waters are excellent for other activities such as
scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming and fishing. There are picnic and
barbecue facilities with spectacular scenic views, and toilet and kiosk
facilities are available.
Macquarie Pass National Park
- a section of the Illawarra escarpment and consists
of steep, densely timbered ridges and rainforest gullies, topped by a rim
of impressive cliffs. Visitors to the park can relax by picnicking, bush
walking, swimming or observing the beautiful stands of rainforest. There
are two scenic walks - the Cascades Rainforest Walk and the Glenview
Track.
Minnamurra
Rainforest - This fragile rainforest ecosystem can be accessed via a
network of raised timber boardwalks and paved walk tracks.

Cycling
- The Illawarra offers a first class network of bicycle paths for the
cyclist. Many tracks take advantage of the local waterways bordering Lake
Illawarra and local beaches both to the North and South. There is an

Wineries
- Ravensthorpe is a
short drive from Southern Highlands and South Cost Wineries. The Southern
Highlands boasts a range of award winning wineries including Centennial Vineyards, Diamond Creek and McVitty Grove to name a few. More information

Golf -
Local
courses have excellent facilities and a number of golf practice
ranges are also available for those needing to fine tune their swing and
keep that handicap in check.
Kiama Golf

Jamberoo Golf Club, Gerringong Golf Club,
Calderwood Valley Golf Course and
Shellharbour Links are all
within 20 minutes drive of Ravensthorpe.

Airport
- The Wollongong Airport is a convenient 2 minute drive for Raventhorpe guests. With regular Qantas flights to
Melbourne and charter flights to Sydney, Bankstown, the Hunter region and
beyond, travel time can be minimised to ensure you maximise your time with
